Leadership Development Events (LDE)

Through Leadership Development Events, participating FFA members in grades 7 to 12 are challenged to develop critical thinking skills and effective decision-making skills, foster teamwork, and promote communication while recognizing the value of ethical competition and individual achievement. LDE events occur at the local, state, and national levels.

Agricultural Communications

Students who are equipped with strong communication skills, have developed teamwork skills and who can use a variety of media to help the public understand issues related to the industry of agriculture have a bright future in the job market.

Agricultural Issues      

The Agricultural Issues event provides an opportunity to expose a wide variety of students to the selection, research, planning, and presenting of current agricultural issues

Agricultural Sales Presentation 

 Students will individually sell an agricultural product or service of their choosing to a participating judge. 

Creed Speaking

The FFA Creed outlines the organization’s beliefs regarding the agricultural industry, FFA membership and the value of citizenship and patriotism. The FFA Creed is recited by FFA members, as part of the requirements to earn the Greenhand Degree.

Demonstrations

Members shall perform a demonstration about an agricultural topic to a panel of judges on their own or with a partner. In doing so, students will work on their communication skills as they explain the process or steps of their topic and its importance and relevance to the agricultural industry, 

Employment Skills

This contest is designed for FFA members to develop, practice and demonstrate skills needed in seeking employment in the agricultural industry. Each part of the event simulates “Real World” activities that will be used by real world employers.

Exhibit   

FFA members work together to produce an exhibit to highlight their chapter’s local, state, and national FFA programs and inform the community of their presence. 

Extemporaneous Public Speaking 

FFA members are given an agriculture topic on which to give an impromptu speech

Leadership Ambassador      

The Leadership Ambassador CDE allows Senior FFA members to showcase their accomplishments in FFA and their knowledge of current agriculture issues.

Persuasive Essay      

FFA members will demonstrate their knowledge and written communication skills through the development of an essay. 

Prepared Public Speaking

FFA members present a speech written on an agricultural topic to a panel of judges, who then ask the contestant a series of questions about the topic of their speech.

Scrapbook- Traditional & Multimedia  

For FFA Chapters to demonstrate the activities they have completed each month in an organized creative fashion.

Quiz Bowl  

Middle school, freshman, and sophomore FFA members answer FFA and general agriculture questions
